You break my record, now I break you, like I break your friend.
You might know game designer Keith Burgun from his work on 100 Rogues and the sadly under-rated Empire, but from today you shall know him for the sonorous timbre of his pipes. Burgun’s four-years-in-the-making tactical game Auro is nearing release (“We’re iron-clad about being out this month,” he said to me this morning) and he’s posted a video tutorial for the game over the weekend. Dude sounds like Paul Rudd.
To make a hopelessly crude comparison, Auro looks like a marriage between sumo wrestling and Hoplite — fans of that instant classic are definitely going to want to watch the video. Here we have a turn-based game where you defeat your enemies by knocking them off the edges of the arena. Every level offers you a new power with which to do so, but also more enemies to contend with.
Auro is coming very soon for iOS and Android. We’ll be sure to let you know here but if you prefer to do your own surveillance you can follow Burgun’s Dinofarm Games on Twitter.
