Out Now: Hurricane Party Edition

Ignore that evacuation order, fill the bathtub with water rum punch, break out the external power banks and get your __game on! All along the Atlantic coast we're taking a pounding from Hurricane Matthew, and there's no better way to squander one's emergency supplies than playing new games while trying to keep one's iPhone 7 above the storm surge. It looked like it was going to be a thin week, but then some significant games showed up on our doppler radar. Heartbreak, sneakiness and Gung fu are all in the offing, plus Canada adds Elder Scrolls: Legends as well as "no hurricanes" to it's list of virtues.

Jade Empire: Special Edition

Bioware's classic __game of martial arts and failing to understand Taoism finally made the wirework leap to mobile. If you haven't played this one since it's original Xbox or PC release, you'll be getting a dim sum buffet of extras along with your nostalgia, as the Special Addition of the game includes more playable characters, enhanced graphics, and a side of extra Wuxia, for dipping. And, if you've played the Special Edition on PC, well, it didn't have all-new touch controls, did it?

There will be no "Kung Fu Fighting" jokes here. Jade Empire is out now out on iOS.

Invisible Inc.

Apropos of it's stealth-strategy espionage content, Klei's Invisible Inc. was lurking on the App Store, waiting for the right moment to strike. Now it's Klei's turn, and they've already gotten past your defenses (or at least they should have, considering that this is the big turn-based strategy release of the week).

Invisible Inc. is a steal on iOS.

That Dragon Cancer

If you're more in the mood for a good cry, That Dragon Cancer will deliver, guaranteed. In case you haven't heard, this is a game about dealing with your baby having probably-terminal cancer, and it's based on a true story. If you have kids and especially if childhood cancer has been a thing in your life, this one will break you. Sometimes, that's a good thing.

You can feel the pain on iOS.

Arcadecraft

This is a game about building and running a successful arcade, while watching everything you've ever cared about fall apart... sorry, that's not right, I still had a little That Dragon Cancer in my eye. Install machines, draw in new customers, expand your arcade, and have fun.

Retro-gaming business-sim escapism might be just the thing on iOS.

Corporate Overlord

If you prefer a grander scale for your sims and have been practicing your maniacal laugh, Corporate Overlord is here for you. Straddling the line between "mogul game" and Bond villain, Corporate Overlord may be the most resolutely 2016 game I've seen yet.

Forget about outsourcing and just replace your staff with zombies on iOS.

The Elder Scrolls: Legends

Is finally out! ...if you're Canadian, or, y'know, prepared to change the nominal region of your Apple account for a CCG. Joe has high hopes for this one, and I've heard nothing but good things from folks who got into the beta. Put on Strange Brew and make a run to Tim Hortons, if you're close enough to the border, because Tamriel is the new Quebec.

Go on an adventure, eh? Only on iOS.

Pathfinder Deck 4: Fortress of the Stone Giants

Pathfinder Adventures continues to expand, and deck four is especially important for Android users, as this is it for them this week. Nothing too subtle here: there's a fortress, and Stone Giants, and epic loot (of course). If you want to get teary over this one anyway, I'll understand. The life of an Android gamer is full of hardship.

Those giants won't fight themselves - go get 'em on iOS and Android.
