China-based mobile games publisher iDreamSky has is investing $30 million into an indie __game fund to help developers publish their games globally.

Along with funding, iDreamSky will be offering technology, promotion, and support to indie developers. It will also be a useful ally for breaking into China, a notoriously tough market to crack.

The company has prior expertise with publishing indie games. In February 2015 it signed an exclusive deal to be the publisher for ustwo's hit __game Monument Valley, which achieved 30 million downloads in China.

Helping express creativity

"We invested 30 million dollars in a special fund to help the world's outstanding independent game developers express their creativity and achieve their dreams," said iDreamSky CTO Anfernee Guan.

"We hope to find the next Monument Valley."

Not everyone has been overly-enamoured with iDreamSky in the past. Fruit Ninja developer Halfbrick terminated its partnership with the publisher in December 2016 to seek a deal with "greater transparency".
