Out Tonight: Rebels & Redcoats, The Sailor’s Dream and Kronos?

Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow?

Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow?

Considering that the last two big releases ended up coming out before the weekly Wednesday App Store bonanza, it’s been awhile since we’ve had a Wednesday to really get excited about. Tonight’s the night. We’ve got a few big releases, the biggest coming from Hunted Cow and Simogo. Oh, and then there’s Battle Worlds: Kronos. It’s another big release but I’m just not sure if it’s coming out tomorrow or tonight. Let’s call it tomorrow, and if it manages to show up later tonight we can all dance a jig.

Let’s take a look at what we know is hitting the App Store tonight.

Hunted Cow’s first collaboration with board game publisher Decision Games is the standout release tonight. Rebels & Redcoats offers a healthy heaping of Revolutionary War goodness with 3 different campaigns, 10 battles and over 25 different toy soldiers to play with. The board game is a 2-player only affair and this appears to be the same, however it’s unclear if the game has a multiplayer component or is just the single player campaigns. It does feature the Game Center logo on its iTunes page, so there. Rebels & Redcoats is for iPad and should cost $10.

I don’t have any video of this one, not even grognards drooling over the cardboard version, so you’re going to have to be happy with this picture.

Simogo is pretty awesome. Last year they released not one, but two amazing games that kind of redefined what a game on a touch device could do. Then again, were they games? Of course, I’m talking about the Pocket Tactics Adventure Game of 2013, Year Walk, and our Puzzle Game of 2013 runner-up, Device 6. Well, they’re at it again with tonight’s The Sailor’s Dream. It’s another surreal–I won’t call it a game–experience. Simogo is even calling Sailor’s Dream “challenge-free”. So, if it’s not a game, what is it, then? Who cares? All I know is that every Simogo app thus far has captivated me and been worth every penny. The Sailor’s Dream is for iOS Universal and should be $3.
