Samsung is set to blame its exploding Galaxy Note 7s on irregularly sized batteries and other manufacturing issues.
The manufacturer is to release an official report on January 23rd explaining why its phones caught fire. It is reported that the batteries did not properly fit the device and therefore overheated.
Replacement phones were then rapidly produced, but thanks to the sudden ramp-up in production there were issues in manufacturing that caused further overheating. What exactly these faults were has not been made clear.
A poor fit
The report matches with hardware expert Instrumental's investigation into the device, which concluded that the phone did not leave enough room for battery swelling.
96% of all Samsung Galaxy Note 7s have now been recalled to the manufacturer. As a result, airlines in America will no longer have to warn passengers about the dangers of the phone before each flight.
