Apple has made a permanent App Store section dedicated to showcasing games made by indie developers.

The hub is designed especially for shining a light on indie games both new and old, as chosen by Apple's Editors, and is expected to be updated regularly.

Celebrating indie games

The news comes shortly after the start of a 12 day long promotion on the App Store to celebrate indie titles.

Spotlights right now include “Our 25 favourite indie games”, “Indie __game debuts”, “Newly discovered indies”, discounted titles and other areas that show off innovation, outstanding gameplay, quality sound design and great stories.

New games are being released each day, such as Zach Gage’s Typeshift, and are also being featured on the main App Store games page.

Other highlighted titles had also included Ustwo's Monument Valley, Supergiant Game's Transistor, Terry Cavanagh's Super Hexagon, Simogo's Device 6 and Capybara Games' Superbrothers: Sword & Sorcery EP.
