Legendary…
As you can probably tell from the headline, today’s not the greatest release date in the history of the App Store. As much as I’d love to mock the App Store for such a uneventful evening, I’m going to refrain and look at the bigger picture. Yes, tonight is kind of a dud, but the week as a whole has been a pretty darn good one overall.
First of all, Monday ushered in 120+ new cards when the Goblins vs. Gnomes expansion went live in Hearthstone. The event didn’t go as smoothly as Blizzard would have liked, I’m sure, with login servers going down all day and players who could log in unable to buy any of the new cards. That said, by Monday night it had all been straightened out and we were finally able to get our hands on all the cards we’ve been drooling over for the last month or so. Pick up Hearthstone for iPad here.
More of the week that was after the break.
When Tuesday rolled around, we were met with Slitherine’s release of Frontline: The Longest Day. Unlike the Hearthstone expansion, I haven’t had any time to spend with the latest D-Day game to hit the market, but the screenshots sure do look pretty. The Longest Day puts you in charge of the Allied landings at Normandy and features over 80 different units at your disposal. It looks like standard Slitherine fare, which means it’s likely to not suck. You can nab it for iOS Universal here and Android here. Either version will cost you $3.
So, we’ve had a pretty eventful week thus far, what’s coming tonight? Not much that I can find, in fact the only title that looks promising is called Sneaky Sneaky which puts you in the shoes of a rogue named, well, Sneaky. Sigh. The game looks good though, reminding me of the old games that PopCap used to make before Bejeweled and PvZ made them famous. It’s a tactical puzzler in which you’ll use stealth and combat to sneak through each level, and it has skeletons. It’s hard for game to suck if it’s got skeletons. It also has some light RPG elements allowing you to level Sneaky up and gaining new abilities as the game progresses.
Sneaky Sneaky will be available tonight for iOS Universal and Android and will run $3.
As usual, I’m sure I’m missing some great titles so let me know what I should have posted about in the comments.
