Suburban sprawl: Suburbia update incoming

Our town

Our town

As a board game app, Suburbia has kind of fallen off our radar. There are a few reasons for this starting with all the other fantastic board game apps released since last December and ending with the fact that Suburbia hasn’t been updated since March. It’s kind of a shame, because the game itself is pretty great, introducing a single-player campaign into a board game app well before Galaxy Trucker appeared on the scene.

It’s been 9 months, but Suburbia is getting a major update in the next few weeks, hopefully going live before the annual December shutdown at Apple. The update will include the obligatory bug fixes and enhancements, but will also include some major new functionality as well. We’re talking about stat-tracking to record wins and losses, cleaning up the rules and tile reference to make them easier to access during a game, adding 2 new cities to the single-player campaign, and streamlining the online multiplayer experience to make joining and organizing your ongoing games easier.

Expect the update to hit for the iPad version before Christmas, with the Android update hitting sometime in the new year.

After the break watch Drive Thru Review’s walkhough of the iPad version of Suburbia.
