So, are those farmers or drunks passed out in the snow?
This is my first holiday season without the comforting buffer of Owen gently rationing the amount of press releases that the rest of us have to see. The last few weeks has been a rude awakening of just how terrifying Owen’s inbox has been for years, and the scariest thing is all the “Santa” games that are coming out this year. Endless runners, Doodle Jump clones, freemium garbage, you name it. Slap Santa on it and, apparently, that’s news.
Not all the special holiday updates are worth ignoring, however, especially when it’s Coding Monkey‘s seminal board game app Carcassonne that’s getting a wintery upgrade. On December 17th, winter will come to southern France turning the usually green tiles into Bing Crosby’s best dream ever. It’s not just a cosmetic change, though. The update will also bring new tiles and mechanics as well as an overhaul of the entire Carcassonne UI.
That’s not all, though! Coding Monkeys are also including a new expansion that doubles the number of tiles in the game, making for epic-sized and epic-length Carcassonne games. More of a good thing is always a good thing, right? You can grab Carcassonne for iOS Universal for $10.
Both the Winter Upgrade and Double-Tile Expansion will be available as IAP on December 17th.
Jump in the way back machine after the break and listen to a very young Brad from 164‘s dulcet tones as he reviews Carcassonne.
