Come on out, noobs.
Good news for absolutely everyone this morning. For our brothers and sisters with Android devices: World of Tanks Blitz has launched worldwide for you on the Google Play store, offering you the chance to get into one of my favourite mobile action games in a long, long time. But this is also good news for iOS WoT players: there’s going to be a huge new influx of noobs to crush, as Blitz will integrate Android players into the same cross-platform multiplayer pool. Hope you kept a couple of low-level tanks around in your garage. Take that old T82 out for a spin.
It’s not like there was a real paucity of multiplayer action before Android arrived in WoT — developers Wargaming.net tell us that Blitz crossed the 10 million download mark recently, and that the average daily use is a mind-boggling 60 minutes per player. The recent version 1.5 update also brought the mobile game closer to its desktop progenitor by adding crew skills and my beloved British tank line — though no Matildas yet. Sad face.
I was so moved by Blitz when it arrived back in June that I wrote a long strategy guide for getting started — check that out if you decide to dive in today. Watch those lovely British tanks in action in the video after the jump.
